Bramhall is defined by its trees. The oaks and limes along Bramhall Lane South, Ack Lane and the roads around the park keep most gardens in dappled shade, and that shade is why Bramhall roofs carry so much moss and why so many patios here are green rather than grey. The housing is largely 1930s onwards — substantial semis and detached homes with tiled roofs, some pebbledash, and generous driveways. Concrete tiles in this much shade grow thick moss that holds water against the roof, so we treat and remove it and clear the gutters, fascias and soffits at the same time. On the driveways, we steam rather than simply blast, so the moss in the joints does not reappear by the following spring.
