What are cookies?

Cookies and similar technologies (like browser local storage) are small pieces of data stored on your device by the websites you visit. We use them for a small number of clearly-defined purposes.

Strictly necessary

Always on — the site can't work without these.

Session (authentication) — used only if you sign into the CMS as an admin or editor. Stored in your browser's local storage under the Supabase auth key.
Form-security tokens — a short-lived proof-of-work token used by the quote form to block automated abuse.
Cookie choice — proclean.cookie-consent in local storage remembers the preferences you set here.

Analytics

Only set if you turn on the analytics option. We use Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google Ireland Limited) to understand how visitors find and use the site, so we can improve it.

_ga — distinguishes one browser from another. Expires after 2 years.
_ga_<container-id> — maintains the analytics session state. Expires after 2 years.
_gid / _gat — short-lived cookies used to distinguish users and limit request rates. Expire within 24 hours.

We have IP anonymisation switched on and have disabled Google advertising features and ad personalisation, so this data is not used to build advertising profiles. Google acts as our processor for this data; see how Google uses data from sites that use its services.

If you reject non-essential cookies, or switch analytics off again in your preferences, the Google Analytics script is not loaded and no analytics cookies are set.

Our own visit counts (no cookies)

Separately from Google Analytics, our server keeps a simple count of page visits without setting any cookies or storing anything on your device. Visits are counted using a daily-rotating, salted one-way code derived from your IP address and browser, which cannot be reversed or used to follow you across days or websites — our statistics never use your raw IP address.

Your raw IP address is written only to a short-lived security log and is kept for a maximum of 7 days before being erased automatically. It is used solely to detect and block malicious traffic and form abuse — never for analytics, profiling, advertising or marketing — and access is limited to our site administrators. Marketing / advertising

We do not use marketing or advertising cookies.
