Marple is a mix of everything: stone cottages near the canal locks, Victorian terraces around the centre, and large interwar and modern houses up towards Marple Ridge and Hawk Green. What ties it together is moisture — the Goyt valley, the canal and the tree cover along Brabyns and Chadkirk keep humidity high, which is why Marple roofs and paving carry so much more moss than properties a few miles west.
Roof and gutter work is our bread and butter in SK6. Moss on concrete tiles holds water against the roof and sheds into the gutters, so we treat and remove it and clear the whole rainwater system in the same visit. On the stone properties near the locks we steam clean only, keeping pressure well away from older mortar, and on the newer estates we do render softwashing and block driveway cleaning with re-sanding.
