Glossop sits right at the edge of the Peak District, and the weather shows on the buildings. Millstone grit terraces, stone-slate roofs and rendered semis all take far more rain than properties out on the Cheshire side of Manchester, and north-facing elevations here can stay damp for weeks at a time. The result is thick moss on roofs, green streaking down gable walls and slippery stone flags.
We cover Old Glossop, Hadfield, Whitfield and the roads climbing towards Snake Pass. On stone properties we steam clean rather than jetwash — Glossop gritstone is often already weathered, and high pressure drives water straight into the wall. On roofs we treat the moss, clear it properly and get the gutters, fascias and soffits done in the same visit, because up here a blocked gutter turns into a damp problem quickly.
